During the match:
In the referee course, you learned your role during the match and how to referee. Some important aspects are:
- Blow your whistle for what you observe, not for what others shout.
- Act calmly and in the following order:
- Blow your whistle immediately when a team scores a point.
- Indicate which team gets the point.
- Indicate the reason.
- Be consistent.
- Check whether the scorer has awarded a point before you whistle for the next serve.
- Avoid arguments, but when a captain asks, briefly explain why you have blown the whistle.
- In Youth C 2nd/3rd division and CMV6 matches, the same player is allowed a maximum of three consecutive serves.
After the match:
- Check the DWF (set scores and result) immediately after the match.
- Ask the captains to approve the result.
- Approve the result yourself.
- Submit the result.
If there is a problem with the DWF, write down the set scores and result, or take a photo of them, and email it immediately to the match secretary.
Counter
Please ensure you are present at least 15 minutes before the match starts.
Before the match:
- The referee will give you the tablet after all players have been checked. Check that this has been done: are the ‘Enter result’ and ‘Track live’ buttons active? Select ‘Enter result’.
During the match:
- Keep track of the set scores on a score sheet or enter them after each set.
After the match:
- Enter the set scores in the Digital Scorecard (DWF) or double-check that you have entered the correct set scores and give the tablet to the referee.
Information about the Digital Scorecard (DWF)
You can find the DWF via the link www.nevobo.nl/dwf. Log in with your Nevobo account. If you don’t have one yet, create one on the login screen.
If you are not yet familiar with the form, please review it at home to avoid unnecessary delays before the match.
On this page, you’ll find Nevobo’s explanation of the DWF. You can log in to the DWF demo site with your Nevobo account to learn more about the DWF. Click on the ‘Demo’ heading at dwf.nevobo.nl.
Team with Indoor Duty
If your team is assigned to indoor duty, please ensure you have at least two players present. The weekly email from the match secretary will indicate the time of indoor duty. This depends on the start and end times of the scheduled matches.
Early Indoor Duty:
The sports hall will be available from 1:30 PM. The indoor duty team will set up the match fields together with the teams. Matches start at 2:00 PM.
Please prepare/place the following at the fields:
- Counting table with two chairs
- Tablet
- Counting board
- Score sheet
- Pen
Separate instructions have been created for setting up CMV fields. Printed instructions are posted on our wooden equipment cabinet in the equipment room, and you can find them digitally here.
Late Hall Service:
The late hall service, together with the last teams, is responsible for closing the hall. This means:
- Take down the fields. The posts and nets for fields 1 and 2 go in the equipment storage. For fields 3 and 4, the posts must be placed on the blue cart and the nets on the hooks on the wall (NOT on the blue cart).
- Put the referee’s chair in the storage.
- Put the tablet in the locker connected to the power supply.
- Put the scoreboard, scoring table, and chairs in the storage.
- Dispose of any remaining trash and put plastic bottles in the blue recycling bin (the large one).
- Put/put any remaining water bottles or clothing in the locker in the canteen.
Youth Referee Supervisor
Please ensure you arrive no later than 30 minutes before the match kickoff time. Your role is to support the youth referee where necessary and to provide a good, enjoyable experience during the first refereeing shifts. The youth player has completed the online rules test and obtained the certificate, which means they are familiar with the rules. However, your guidance can help them gain more confidence while refereeing.
Before the match:
- Ensure the youth referee is ready on time and is comfortable.
- Meet the coaches together with the youth referee and ensure a positive first impression.
- Review the digital match form (DWF) together and explain how it works where necessary.
- Remain present during the introductory meeting between the youth referee and the captains to provide support as needed.
- Assist with practical matters as needed, such as:
- Checking the net height.
- Calling the captains to select the playing side and service.
- Preparing the match ball.
During the match:
- Remain visible and available so the youth referee can contact you during difficult moments.
- Encourage the youth referee to make their own decisions and only provide support when absolutely necessary.
- Use the breaks between sets to briefly consult with the youth referee and reassure them or offer tips.
- Only offer advice during dead-ball situations to avoid disrupting the match.
- If necessary, speak kindly and respectfully to coaches or other involved parties if they are pressuring the youth referee or exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior. Remind them of our core values: sportsmanship and respect.
After the match:
- Help the youth referee complete the digital match report (DWF) and ensure it is completed and submitted correctly.
- After the match, briefly discuss the youth referee’s experiences and offer one or two tips and tricks as final feedback.
Your role as a mentor is crucial to giving young referees a positive start. Thank you for your commitment to supporting them and working together to uphold our core values: sportsmanship and respect within our club!
Thanks in advance to all Zovoc members for helping set up and take down the fields and keeping the hall and equipment room tidy! After all, together we are Zovoc!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the match secretary.
